Featuring a clearer screen, which is easier to read, and redesigned page buttons, the troublesome issues of the first Amazon Kindle have been corrected in this version. Another outstanding feature is that the on/off switch is now located at the top of the device, rather than on the back of it, making it much more convenient. The volume buttons are no longer at the bottom, which previously made volume control awkward, but are now on the right hand spine, a much better place.

The content available for the original Kindle is also available for the Kindle 2, and periodicals, magazines and newspapers are also available. The first Kindle held approximately 250-300 books, the Kindle 2 is capable of holding up to 1,600 titles.

The Kindle 2 is easier to use in some ways due to the re-design. Most noticeable is the completely re-designed keyboard, now resembling the keyboard of a cell phone, with keys that are easy to press. Page turning has also been made easier.
