The iRiver Story HD is an ebook reader (e-reader) offered by iRiver, known for their popular MP3 players. It is meant to compete with the extremely popular Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook, and Kobo e-readers. As standard, the device features a daylight-readable monochrome e-ink display, giving the appearance of paper.
Design of the iriver Story HD
This particular display is of higher resolution than standard, at 768×1024 pixels, compared to the 600×800 of other ebook readers in on the market. It also has a 38-key QWERTY keyboard, a fast 800mhz Freescale processor, and though it is larger than a third-generation Kindle, it weighs only 7.3 ounces, less than the Kindle or Nook.

Available Content for this E-Reader
The Story HD is the first Google eBooks-integrated ebook reader; that is, it gets its content directly from Google’s open platform for eBooks. Google Books are stored on Google’s cloud servers, and accessed via WiFi. The eBooks you own are linked to your Google account, and after syncing you can read them on- or offline. Page positions are saved as well. Books you already own can be accessed on your e-reader, and there are both free and paid books available.
Ease of Use of the Story HD
The interface of the Story HD is extremely straightforward, showing only your content and basic options. Ease of use is certainly a non-issue for anyone familiar with e-readers in general.
Battery Life of this E-Reader
The battery life of the iRiver is generous; like most e-readers using e-ink display technology, it can be measured in days or weeks depending on usage, and the device should only require a charge a few times per month at the very most. The manufacturer claims up to ten weeks between charges, but again, it depends on the user.
Additional Features of iriver Story HD
As an additional feature, the iRiver Story HD’s memory is expandable by up to 32gb via an SD-card slot. This, combined with cloud storage, should compensate for the relatively small 2gb internal memory.
