ViewSonic is not necessarily a brand name that many people know of let alone would associate with high prices and status the way they would with, say, “Apple”. They are, however, attempting to make their name with as an iPad killer with this line of relatively affordable tablets that, while not specifically designed to compete with the iPad, seem intended to provide a substitute for those who would rather not put down more than $500 on a single gadget.
Design of the ViewSonic gTablet
The gTablet has an intuitively designed exterior with external buttons that seem thoughtfully placed. The average user, including those who are new to the world of touchscreen tablets, should have no trouble at all finding and and using the volume rocker or the home button. The device itself is as speedy and powerful as your average desktop was a few years back and is capable of handling a variety of light tasks. Unlike so many other budget tablets, the ViewSonic gTablet has a USB port, a real one too, not just the little mini-USB for charging. The USB port means that you can attach a keyboard and type on it.
